Ave Maria is a residential and commercial real estate development situated just west of Naples. The community was founded in 2005 by the partnership of Barron Collier Cos, a large private company, Ave Maria Foundation under the leadership of a Roman Catholic philanthropist and Tom Monaghan, the founder of Domino’s Pizza and who was at that time the leader of Ave Maria University.
The Golf Club at Del Webb, designed by Gordon Lewis, is nestled within the natural setting of crystal lakes and land preserves of the community. It is 7,532 yards and has 18 holes.
The development of Ave Maria as a town came about when the Ave Maria Stewardship Community District was created by the Florida legislature. It is a local government that has a limited purpose of providing infrastructure, among them is development systems, services, projects, facilities and other improvements.
The neighborhood has a quaint downtown center that is buzzing with shops and restaurants, grocery store, parks and dog parks, a water park and pools. Along with all of that, there’s the recognized Ave Maria University. There are about 6 neighborhoods in Ave Maria. All of them feature stylish homes and properties that include low-rise 1-3 floors condominium in the downtown area, which they call the La Piazza and single-family homes with 1500-1700 square feet of living space.
During the planning of the town, the founders had made sure that the Ave Maria Oratory church lies in the center. Its façade displays the work of Marton Varo, the sculpture depicting the scene of the Annunciation.
Ave Maria is considered to be Southwest Florida’s new hometown, where everything is good and everyone are friends..
